Armories are military depots that are used to store weapons and ammunition. Most military bases have armories and when people want to go to these armories they must go through the proper channels to do so. National Guard armories often store some of the equipment used by National Guard units and they may also be places where the National Guard trains. Many National Guard armories house the offices of the National Guard unit that is affiliated with it. Some National Guard armories are for the Army National Guard. Other National Guard armories are for the Air National Guard. Most towns with a National Guard unit have a National Guard armory.

Just like weapons, costumes and clothing have changed over the years. Armories will not only show you what people fought with in medieval times, they will also have examples of what people wore in those times. Armored knights can give you a feel for what type of armor and swords was believed to protect soldiers using the most advanced technology of the time. Samurai swords, roman armor, and replica weapons may not all be displayed at different armories. If you want to see certain weapons, swords, or armor you should call the armory in advance to see what they have on display. Smaller items, such as tubes, buffers, barrels, and nuts have also changed throughout history. Not only will armories have pistols on sale, but you can see how the grip has changed over time, or how carbines have developed over the years. If you collect replica weapons, armories are a perfect place to find colts, katana guns, target pistols, historic leather items, or samurai swords. Armories will also have medieval fantasy reproductions to give you an idea on how battles were fought during those times. Roman armor will be very different compared to what was worn during medieval times, and you can find all the differences at your local armory. How medieval knights carried their weapons will vary to those who fought in the civil or revolutionary war. Even the commando gear will be different depending on the era the battle took place. Handles on guns for soldiers to carry will vary depending on the type of gun and gunsmith. Armories will have educated people working there who can help give you information on the different items and a historical background.
